Tobias Catches Trout

Tobias Catches Trout.

Translation by Tobi Tobias.

Minneapolis, Minnesota: Carolrhoda Books, Inc., 1984.

In Greenland, a boy goes with his family up a fjord to catch trout.   Once they’ve caught and smoked them, they bring them back to a town to sell.

Good Points:

  • Exposure to a non-American culture.
  • Simple and readable story.

Other Notes:

  • About fishing for food.
  • Not about New York trout or trout habitat.
  • Uncomfortable big town/village settlement cultural conflict.
